Business & Financial Interests
Before entering politics, Kelly McCauley had a career in the hospitality industry. He reportedly worked for over 30 years in this sector, holding senior management positions with Coast Hotels and Resorts. He also owned and operated a consulting firm that provided services to hotels and tourism businesses.
Potential Conflicts of Interest
In 2017, the federal Ethics Commissioner investigated Kelly McCauley after he wrote a letter on his MP letterhead to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in support of a company's application. The company was reportedly a client of a communications firm owned by his wife. The Commissioner's report concluded that McCauley had used his position to improperly further another person's private interests and breached the conflict of interest code for MPs. He was ordered to pay a penalty. Around the same time, McCauley was also among a group of MPs who faced public scrutiny for hiring family members. He reportedly employed his wife in his constituency office. While this was permitted under the rules at the time, the practice was controversial and the rules were later changed to prohibit it.
Public Controversies
In May 2021, during a House of Commons committee meeting, McCauley was criticized for comments he made to Liberal MP Hedy Fry. While Fry was speaking, McCauley reportedly asked if she was having trouble reading her notes. The remarks were viewed by some as disrespectful and ageist. McCauley later issued an apology for his comments.

Mr. Speaker, Tolstoy said, “Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold.” Let us wash away everything that is not gold from the member's speech and look at the truth. Well, that is right, we washed away, and there is nothing. We have sat and listened to a master class of 20 minutes of disinformation from the Liberal government. Winnipeg
Mr. Speaker, my colleague mentioned that the government was focusing on what it can control. The government controls all of the gas taxes, such as the industrial carbon tax and the GST on both diesel and regular gas. If it is only focusing on what it can control, why does it not reduce all of the taxes, as we have suggested in this motion?
C-48 Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased to rise to support the private member's bill concerning Bill. It is mind-boggling to watch the government continue to deny Alberta, and to also deny the facts around the system and the facts around the issue of the incredible contribution that the energy industry makes to Canadian finances and will make in the future as well. We have seen reports that say that
Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague from Winnipeg West; we share the “west” part of our ridings. I appreciate the member's speech and I honestly believe that he means well, he cares for people and he is not out here pushing the government's slogans. One of the issues he brought up was the grocery rebate. The way it is formulated, if we have a husband and wife, a mother and father, or
Toy Story Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to speak about the spring economic update, or as I call it, the spring deficit update. The Liberals, on their introduction of the bill, put out a good 250-page program called “Canada Strong for All.” I think it should be “Canada Deficits for All.” It reminds me of a famous Internet meme fromof Woody and Buzz Lightyear, where Buzz is pointing out
member Mr. Speaker, of course, I disagree with thefrom the Green Party. We probably disagree on everything. I think she needs to leave the past behind and, like Marty McFly, go back to the future and understand that Canada is in a different spot right now. We need to get the pipelines built. We need to build in Canada, to serve Canadians.
Mr. Speaker, my colleague has brought up a great point. He has actually brought up two great points. When the same old, corrupt, tired Liberal government was elected, the Liberals stated they would no longer do omnibus bills, and that is what this is. I think there are 11 different pieces of legislation, including the act the member mentioned. Prime Minister On the direct question about helping
Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for Calgary Centre for his continued advocacy for Alberta's oil and gas industry. It is ridiculous. This government continues its virtue-signalling tour around the world, spending Canadian money on wasteful projects, I believe, overseas, when we have 2.2 million people every month at food banks in Canada. We have seniors and we have parents who
C-48 C-69 Mr. Speaker, the member for Winnipeg North overlooks the fact that this government has not repealed Bill, which ensures no pipeline will get built to the B.C. coast. He overlooks that this government has still not repealed Bill, the no new pipelines bill. This government has still not repealed the oil and gas production cap. Who is going to invest in this country when we cannot get our
